Designed for a family of five, the brief is to create a well-protected home from its suburban context and the right of way along the western boundary. The architectural solution is an enclosed courtyard typology that negotiates the balance between light and privacy. A series of protective walls demarcate the boundary between private and public and the parti of the house reaches out to its limit, dividing the private realm into a spectrum of indoor and outdoor spaces.
The striated house becomes the active space between the courtyards where activities take place within and in-between, offering the occupants multiple experiences between the indoor and outdoor.
