A2 Studio is a busy, design-led architectural practice based in Auckland, New Zealand. The practice was founded in 2014 to focus on residential projects that respond to the built environment in central Auckland.
Led by Ernie Lau, our studio approaches every project with deep understanding of the client’s brief and thoughtful consideration on prevailing context. We analyse all parameters with clear logic and function to formulate inventive outcomes that are bespoke and timeless. Our team is involved in every aspect of every project from inception to completion, and we consistently deliver high-quality projects of varying scales and typologies.
Clients are our partners in the process. We are inspired by this collaborative and narrative process to find creative solutions to complex problems.
Ernie believes architecture is not only about creative designs but having deep knowledge of function, materials and processes, and the ability to plan, negotiate and manage. Practicing for over two decades, Ernie has continually refined his expertise and to lead a design-focused studio that would deliver on the aspiration and commitment on every project.
Having designed his own architectural home and residential development, Ernie takes an empathic approach to every design solution.
